Officially established in 1955, The Windsor Royals is one of Queensland’s oldest and most successful baseball clubs. The club caters for ball players of all ages from youth to senior leagues, and includes skill development and high performance programs. Our teams compete in both social and competitive baseball leagues both locally and in premier state competitions.
Holloway Field has recently undergone significant redevelopment and provides both players and spectators with the best facilities available. Dedicated t-ball, little league, and junior fields surround our main baseball diamond which has over 1000 seat grand stand. The recent redevelopment includes both on and off-field upgrades. For players the infield has been re-surfaced, new infield lights, new field fencing and upgraded dugouts. For spectators a new frameless back net, for a better spectator experience, upgraded corporate facilities and clubhouse.
A new indoor batting facility is scheduled for construction in late 2014.
Currently Holloway Field is also the home of the Brisbane Bandits Australian Baseball League team. The field has also been used to host the Claxton Shield and was the training base for the Netherlands for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Windsor Royals has also played host to numerous international traveling teams.
The Royals provide quality coaches with expert knowledge and understanding of the game. Our coaches are all accredited and recognised throughout the baseball community as some of the best. Regional, State, National, and International coaches and players take part in our programs, and provide opportunity to develop baseball skill and knowledge. Windsor has produced many stars of the game both locally, nationally, and internationally. Each season the Royals players are been picked for both junior and senior regional and state representatives to compete at various championships across the country. Many of our players that have received scholarships to the Queensland Academy of Sport and the Major League Baseball Australian Academy Program, programs are designed to showcase the countries best prospects to Major League Baseball Clubs. Players have also received scholarships to colleges in the United States.Over the last fifteen years, Windsor Royals has had over fifteen players sign professional contracts to Major League Clubs in the United States. That is an average of almost one per season. In 2013 our first player made his debut in the Major Leagues. In 2014 four Windsor players represented Australia against the Los Angeles Dodgers at the MLB Opening Day Series in Sydney, including two pitchers, the catcher, and the second baseman.
The Club has also seen many talented players picked up to compete for Australian Baseball League teams, and other professional and semi professional clubs.
